I know I will be using a single speed or a fixed gear. I would like to use a compact Deore drive or later a giese drive. I have no preference between single speed or fixed gear. The wheels are the same size as a mountain bike. Is there a way to mount the rear wheel, so that the drive is similar to the center line of a fixed gear? Since you can change the gearing on a single speed, that would help you find the right sprocket to use. You could also cut the freewheel out of the bottom bracket and run the front sprocket on the seat tube.
